If you are reading my blog on here you know that I’m a surf photographer. What many people don’t know as much about is that I make the majority of my income not from shooting surfing, but rather working on larger scale photoshoots. Usually these shoots are for an advertising campaign for a new product, or for a cover of a magazine. I work as a digital tech which means I man the computer station as the digital photos come in as well as setup lighting and general camera maintenance etc.
Aside from the fact that it pays reasonably well, the biggest perk of having this job is that I get to travel to random places for shoots. Usually these are places I would never normally go; places like Green Bay or western Tennessee. This past week took the cake when I got called for a photoshoot that was going to happen in Palestine. Palestine is probably one of the absolute last places I ever thought I would go to in my life, but sure enough I did. Compliments of the shnow-bawl storm, I got snowed out of Philly and stayed in Isreal for an extra two days doing some sight seeing and I snapped a few shots of my own to share.
ps. Told you I would mix it up this week.

The Wall from Israel side: Clean and heavily guarded

Many locals pretty much survive on coffee and cigs. Kinda like rehab.

Yup.

Cool cafe though.

...until you find out you got seated in the getting smoked section. This wall was littered with bullet holes from the street below.

That is a watch tower where soldiers monitor the border crossing. aka RPG target.

You can't feel anything but holiness in the churches.

Pretty gnarly.

Golden Light Shines on Me

The theme of the land

Normally don't do self portraits like this, but something about this wall compelled me.
