My friends are back in town from college and I can’t surf with them this year. Swell was solid and I didn’t want to sit inside all day so I cruised up and worked the camera. Check out some footage of my crazy friends charging closeouts and getting hurt.

No Regrets

What could have been my session of the year in Ocean City ended in the back of an ambulance with a broken collarbone. The morning started off flawless just Matt Rinck, Keenan, and I swapping barrels off the rocks. As the tide started to drop the sandbar started getting pissed and we all got our fair share of beatings among the select gems still out there. At dead low it was retarded. Freight training double ups from the jetty to the pipe with no exit what so ever. We continued to surf, racing through sections as long as we could until having full speed collisions into the closeout. I locked into a chunky one and tried to punch through before it closed out. Lucky Rinck was on the one before it because when the lip landed on my shoulder it snapped my collarbone and he was on the inside to swim me in. I felt a lump sticking up from the inside of my wetsuit and knew from the look on Matt’s face that it was my bone. Rinck called for an ambulance and they took me to the ER. Big shout out to him for knowing exactly what to do and making the situation so mellow. The worst part of the whole experience was the doctors struggling to take my 5mil off. Now I’m wrapped up and out of the water for a month or two. Injuries suck but they’re just part of the game. No regrets here.
