I’m sure the last swell is all still fresh in your mind if you’re a Jersey surfer. I hope you do, because it was our only significant swell for last month. Although it was probably memorable to you for good waves, it was memorable to me due to my loss financially. I finally had a decent quiver building, but a period of laziness has left me resorting to “old yellow.” It’s one of the few boards that has lasted the past couple of years. If you’ve seen it, you probably remember it. Anyone who plays the quiver game knows…

Summer at the shore is usually summed up in the following. Funnel cakes, cheesesteaks, BAMBOO, Snookie, and fake tans. Most people don’t realize for us, it’s completly different.
On a hunt for the best sausage and pepper sammy, Clay Pollioni finds himself in the middle of some fun summertime surf at his home break. Special cameo appearance by Ronnie Hammer.

To the average passerby, I can seem like quite a pessimist at times, not going to get into the details, but deep down I think I’m really an optimistic person. I’m the kind of person that always searches for the bright side of a situation, no matter how grim the details are. I proved this once again when I began thinking about the oil pumping into the gulf right now.
No doubt its a terrible situation. Not only is it bad for the environment, killing all kinds of wildlife and covering the beaches in a gross slick, but like…

Here is a very small – I mean only the tip of the iceberg – glimpse of the pointbreak we surfed in Mexico. It’s a sand bottom peeling right with multiple barrel sections and a heavy drop on the good days. The people are few and far between but the heat is oppressive. It’s not necessarily a total secret where this wave is, but don’t expect me to draw you a map. Do some research and the hassle of getting there will definitely be worth your while.

Timmy, Keenan, and I met up with photographer John Nimerfroh this morning at 8th street to see perfect lefts running down the beach. Timmy was on fire doing huge airs and getting some really good tubes. He compared the waves to a fun day at home in Ventura. Thanks to John for getting the shots and Jon Coen at ESPN for the sick post!!

The 3rd annual “Paddle For a Cause” is this weekend. The event kicks off around 9am at the wonder bar in Atlantic City. I’m doing the paddle this year, it will be my first year in the event as I have been beat up from my treatments in the past two prior years. I’m really excited to paddle with the crew and the dedicated hard core crew that contributed to the first years paddle through surf and wild green head attacks. I’m making a calling for donations for each mile that I paddle. Lets raise some money to support…
