. Yes it is only August 13th, but the Philadelphia Eagles are on the field. They lost by a field goal miss by Akers, but whatever. They looked GOOOOD!! Also the Atlantic Ocean is becoming active!!!! Swell is looking to be on its way from potential tropical depression development. Got to love it, waves and football!!! Michael Vick has joined the Eagles just minutes ago. Indeed he made his mistakes, but this guy can play football. I want to be a fan of the Birds and welcome you to the team. As for the waves I am ready…

I’ve always had bad luck in the investments that i’ve made. Two years ago my best friend and I started Elation Surf Camps. I’ve taught lessons since I was a grom but now having a total inclusive surf camp that’s all ours, we can do things our way. I partnered up with the city of Avalon last year and since then it’s just grew and this year it’s taken on a whole new facet. We’ve been rated the best at the shore in Philly Magazine, gotten written up in Main line magazine and now the 10 show on channel…

As every east coast surfer knows, summertime can test even the best man’s patience as endless knee high swells overtake the forecasts every week. While the opposite side of the globe sees the southern hemi swells light up their forecasts, we are forced to get a little more creative when it’s flat. As the saying goes, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. And in our case this past weekend, our lemonade was in the form of beach slip n’ slide.
The recipe for Beach Slip N’ Slide
Ingredients: 1 Painters Tarp, 2 Shovels, 1 Bucket, 1 Ocean, 1…

Im not to sure if everyone knows just how hard my dad works at putting on the NSSA events back here. He works tirelessly for about 20 years to get the kids the events they need to qualify for Easterns as well as Nationals. Today just showed me why I’ve got so much respect for what he does and for how hard it is to exactly what he does. The rain started coming down right after we got set up and came and came and came for most of the morning. At one point the winds picked up and…

When I hung up the phone after accepting an invitation to participate in the bartending portion of the Dark Fall Blackout Party held recently at Maynard’s in Margate I had to chuckle because I realized that the most experience I had with serving drinks barely went beyond passing out beers to friends from my own fridge. I heard rumors of this shin-dig earlier in the summer, but I just figured it would be a standard promotional event for the Dark Fall movie (see the trailer here) that we have been working on. But guest bar tending? This was going…

Sorry I’ve been kinda absent lately. If you never knew, summer time at the beach is the time to rake in a few extra bucks and try to save up some much needed dollars. Im getting married on October 24th of this year so Im going to be needed more then a few extra dollars to help me out this fall. Ive been teaching surf camp at our Elation surf camp in Avalon and doing private lessons in OC in the afternoon and then working nights at the Who’s on First organic eatery on 1st and asbury. As one of the photographers on this site, I feel its appropriate to share with whatever audience out there follows me some of the things that inspire me.
I stumbled upon the work of Brian Ulrich. I honestly don’t know much about him, but A. I really like the way his site works (similar to my new one) and B. I really like his photos.
Brian is working on a series of photos featuring stores and areas of commerce that have shut down during this global lack of a job. I feel bad for the people that have lost…

The WQS is all based on seeding. last years final ratings determine where you start in the contest the first half of the next year. Then usually the US Open is the first contest of the reseed. Depending on how your rated you could start in a better round in the contest, or if you are having a terrible year you could start in a worse place. Last year was a shocker for me and the few WQS events I did I lost every time. This year has been going well with a quarter final in HB in March…

Im not to sure what’s going on at the US Open in Huntington Beach but its the end of july and the water is 59 degrees. My feet were so cold during the warm up today that I just came home and went for 2 surfs down at lowers. Got yelled at because my sticker fell off my boards and was called so many names the only thing I could do was smile and laugh. Good old surf rage at lowers. Surf at 11 tomorrow so I hope I can stay warm enough to make some heats and get…
