Hurricane Bill

Written By Kevin Richards on August 25th, 2009

SO we have it.  The first hurricane of the season.  Nice to have it early with warm waters, but to have to get out at 9:30 because of lifeguards sucked.  AHHHH!!   I started my weekend by getting off till today.  Amazing.  I had 4 days of fun filled surfing with a bunch of bros.  I went up to North Jersey friday night with my buddy Scott Drages.  We met up with pro surfers Luke Ditella and Tommy Petriken and photographer Rich McMullin.  Started off the weekend out with a bang at the Asbury Lanes for some beers and…

Jamie on a below sea level right.

Halfway through our little journey down here. You’ve seen the backstory, and the injuries, now time for some actual surf photos.

For now I am Tahitian

Written By Andrew Gesler on August 21st, 2009

Top of the Mountain. It took about thirty minutes to climb up the shear mountain-side covered in thick ferns and about seven minutes to slide down!

I came to Tahiti for one reason, Teahupoo. The slab left has beckoned to me ever since I first saw images of her in the early 1990′s. As a grom I saw shot after shot of my favorite surfers tame the wave of consequence, putting themselves in potentially life threatening situations for the love of tube riding. The fear I have of this wave and my endless desire to overcome such fear is what drives me to conquer her. I want to get Bowled!
I’m in Tahiti now and chopes has yet to show her face. The swell we…

The Joker Comes to Tahiti

Tahitian Paradise

Island paradise is in full effect for the boys participating in the filming of Dark Fall. Andrew Gesler, Dean Randazzo, Zack Humphreys, Clay Pollioni, Trevor Moran, Alex Dephillipo, and I arrived the other day and have been greeted with some super fun surf. We are posted up right in the village of Teahupoo, so our location is absolutely amazing. You can wake up and see Teahupoo from the porch. Really sick! We haven’t had any death-defying Teahupoo sessions yet but we did get a chance to get a couple fun barrels out there the other day. A couple feet…

Psyching on Category 3 Hurricane Bill

Written By Rob Kelly on August 18th, 2009

As of today swell info has sunday almost 16 feet at 17 seconds with NW winds. If the storm and winds do what they’re predicted to do, it could go off!!!!!!! My fingers are crossed……

Swell Talk

Written By Kevin Richards on August 17th, 2009

It is always a conversation between surfers when a swell is supposed to arrive.  I feel they are forecasts passed by one on to another with little changes always adding to the mix.  Classic.  Swell is on it’s way to New Jersey and I’m very excited for all the forecasts and possible travel destinations.  Bring it on!!

The Boys Go to Tahiti

Written By Jamie Moran on August 17th, 2009

The result of my last encounter with Teahupoo. Please Lord do not let this happen again!

Just a quick update. A couple of the Jersey boys (myself included) are making a run over to Tahiti this week to try and tame the beast we know as Teahupoo. Andrew Gesler, Zack Humphreys, Clay Pollioni, Alex DePhillipo, Trevor Moran, and myself have all made the leap of faith and booked tickets over the weekend and will be headed right into some solid swell over there. It’s been a slow summer here in Jersey surf-wise so it will be good to get the gears moving again, even though it will be like going from 0 to 60 tomorrow…

Some lowers footage from DIGITALWUNDERLAND.COM

Written By Matt Keenan on August 15th, 2009

I got some footage from lowers back in April when I was out in California. I was out there for the lowers WQS so it felt good to just get a few waves even though it was packed and my board wasn’t all that magical. enjoy.

The Future of Wave Checking

Written By Trevor Moran on August 14th, 2009

There are three kinds of surfers on this planet. The rich who live on the beach and just get to look out their window and check the waves just beyond their estate’s mote. Then there are those that live too far away from the beach that checking the waves with their actual eyes is totally out of the question so they check the cams on Surfline (or those who live on the beach and are total hermits).
Finally, there is me. I’m the guy who lives close enough to the waves that a walk isn’t out of the question,…
