I was out west mid January to compete with the Fox surf team in the Katin Team Challenge. We ended up taking 4th place in surf that was Maxing out the North side of Huntington Pier. I almost killed my self trying to advance out of my first round heat. Out of the three other competitors in the line up, only six waves were caught due to the strong drift into the pier and less than desirable closeouts bombs coming through. I needed a score, and pretty much gave up on trying to find a good wave and turned…

Well, this certainly has been an interesting winter for all of us located on the Eastern seaboard. El Nino has taken charge of all weather patterns in the northern hemisphere, creating massive swells in the Pacific that have hammered Hawaii and the west coast, as well as making for a seriously cold and snowy couple of months in the major metropolitan areas like Philly, DC, and Balitmore. While most “nine-to-fivers” have been complaining about commutes and shoveling snow, I personally have been applauding the work of Mother Nature. If it’s gonna be cold, it might as well snow, right…

Everyone by now knows how severe the crisis is in Haiti. Last night the boys got together and held a huge fundraiser in Haiti’s honor and Steven Cookies was packed to capacity and had an amazing turn out. There was a silent auction, raffles, food , drinks and more smiles, laughs, and great stories to be had. The entire surf community and our surrounding communities really reached into their pockets and spared no expense in helping Haiti and it was awesome to be there and take part in it. Awesome job Rich, Jon, SBB and everyone who was involved…

I’m not sure why none of the crew has posted this yet but I figured today’s a little slow so I might as well do it. Everyone at the candy here loves surfing. It’s why we do in the water and here online for everyone to enjoy. So I guess the best way to describe this post is just lay it all out. Rich is such a sick photographer. He’s always getting amazing angles, lighting, textures and just seems to actually see the end result ahead of time. Jaime Moran rides the tube better then most people on earth…

With another flat spell upon us, it seems like the only thing to do since it’s so cold and we’ve been getting ponded with snow, was to ride. I’ve been up to Mountain Creek before and love riding at South. Tons of fun banks, rails and jumps for all levels and as the day went on we got our courage together and hit bigger and bigger stuff. Rob was actually doing full blow tail lay backs like we were just out in the ocean on the lil snake run and full grab rail carves. All an all what a…

If you are reading my blog on here you know that I’m a surf photographer. What many people don’t know as much about is that I make the majority of my income not from shooting surfing, but rather working on larger scale photoshoots. Usually these shoots are for an advertising campaign for a new product, or for a cover of a magazine. I work as a digital tech which means I man the computer station as the digital photos come in as well as setup lighting and general camera maintenance etc.
Aside from the fact that it pays reasonably…

I hope everyone got there share of the coldest tubes of the winter so far. I can’t begin to describe how cold the water is to someone who’s not been out in the last few weeks. Today after a few duck dives it was almost like blacking out and seeing stars. I swear a few times I was almost brought to tears and on one set this morning I went over the falls and almost drown because it was so cold and I couldn’t hold my breath because it was just taken out of my lungs. Here’s a few…
