If you have been keeping up with the Surfers Candy posts recently then you know that a large part of our crew jumped ship on Jersey two weeks ago and flew down to Mexico for some pre-summer surf relief. As the photos and videos start to trickle their way onto this site, I decided that in addition to making it known that we scored some epic surf that I would grind the salt into the wounds of our readers a little more by showing off the amazing accomodations that Dean Randazzo, Chris Kelly, and I shared while baking in…

Mexico’s a place that i’ve always wanted to go .. For me this trip was very last minute. My urge to flee new jerseys pre summer scene and get one last shot of good waves was one of the best decisions I could have made. Mexico is dirt cheap, for a full breakfast, (eggs, bacon, pancakes, homefries, coffee, fresh fruit and granola your spending about 800 pasos. Which is about 6 dollars. The house were staying at is absolutly insane. With giant bedrooms, a million dollar view and maid service, we really couldn’t be living more large. The waves…

As per KR’s Post, the waves finally were rideable in Ocean City the other day. The weather warmed up, raising the ocean temp, and bringing a solid ground swell. I saw the forecast about a week ago and tracked it up til D-Day. I managed to set myself up to have off work and penciled in a full day of surf for Wednesday. South East swell, 6 feet at 11 seconds, light SSW winds on Tuesday, with super light NW on Wednesday morning – an epic setup and guaranteed fun waves. Well, this is Ocean City we’re talking about,…

The past couple days here in Ocean City have been pretty fun. I have surfed a lot of hours catching some really fun waves. I was rusty at first only surfing last Wednesday’s little swell, but having constant swell coming in it was easy to get back into things. The first session I started with a 5 ml and booties, which didn’t help my rustiness. The water has warmed up so much and feels great. A 4/3 or 3/2 and no booties is perfect. I can feel my board again and get loose. Ha. Any surfer knows how nice…

At first discovering we had a security guard at our hotel we all felt a lot safer. We later realized just how much our lives were in jeopardy when he pointed his loaded shot gun at me… then he handed me his gun to point at him

Well, I couldn’t take it anymore. The flat spell at home was driving me insane so the other day I booked a last minute ticket to Puerto Escondido, Mexico to meet up with Zack Humphreys, Dean Randazzo, Chris Kelly, and Rich McMullin to chase down a massive swell and hopefully put my eyes on something other than knee-high dribble. The swell peaked over the weekend with literally 35-40 foot top to bottom bombs rolling through. I have never seen a beach break that size before in my life. It was definitely a day for a select few hell men…

I flew home from PR on May 5th. It is a pretty flat in Rincon this time of the year. It is flat in Jersey too, but is the season of tourists and time to make some money. When I arrived in Newark it was 80 degrees, which is perfect weather to come back to from the tropics. The waves were flat though so there was nothing to rush home to. The weather dropped a coupe days later and the waves stayed flat so my excitement of being home ended quickly. I was home for Mother’s Day so of…

For those of you who don’t know, Red Bull is bringing the epic event of Flugtag to Philadelphia in September. Flugtag is an incredible event where teams of 5 people build a “flying” machine to be launched off of a 30 foot platform with the goal of having the contraption glide for the longest distance. The platform is over water where the flying device usually glides safely crashes horrifically into the designated harbor, lake, or in this case – the Delaware River. I have wanted to do this event for a long time – actually ever since I saw it…
