I came home from hanging out and riding the old bike around town. Weather was perfect. Just got back from the Outer banks and the crew at Real Watersports were the best hosts ever and lent us their ace photog Bryan Elkus to get some insane water shots. The surf was really off and on but ther was some days we got to kite, some great days to shoot from the water but moreimportantly the compound just was the best place to hang out. Got down to the best sandbar I surfed in as long as I can remember monday night. Surf tuesday was amazing offshore trunkable and blazing sun with light offshore winds ALL DAY LONG. These are a few of the shots we got. Hope everyone is loving the uncrowded lineups and getting some waves to themselves!!

Today I got up out of bed and Rob Kelly and I went for a quick peak at the situation up on the boardwalk. Cloudy, cold, and empty beach after beach. I love the fall. We had our own session this am with just us and then an afternoon one at 8th st with a few of the boys and got wave after wave. If this was three days ago it would’ve been packed to capacity. Every year about this time I get ready to try to test my skills against the best surfers on the East Coast , and with a few contests coming up there’s a chance to win some serious loot as well. This week starts the Belmar Pro in NJ and the following weekend is the Outer Banks event in Nags head. Real watersports out of Cape Hatteras NC, waves to be specific, has signed up to as their first professional surfer. I went down there a few months ago to get in a kiteboarding session and lesson with my fiance and left more amped then I’d ever been. The compound down there is outta hand. I strongly encourage anyone who’s every heading down to hatteras to stop in and check what’s really going on in the world of extreme retail and camps. I’ll tell you what, summertime around here produces a lot of feelings but surf outed usually isn’t one that comes to mind. maybe frustration, with traffic jams, no parking, beach taggers or mobbed lineups on meager days. I personally love it when we get a few waves and a lifeguard from Delaware gives me attitude and says his boss from Pennsylvania says get out of the water and to cut them some slack! Ha. Summertime is a great time around Ocean City but these feelings I just mentioned really begin to suffocate me around the second week of August….

The old Billabong adage ONLY A SURFER KNOWS THE FEELING , has never meant more to me then it did these past few days. After working myself blue everyday all summer long and not to much surf to be had, Bill’s arrival just mad me really appreciate the feeling surfing gives me. I got some footage from lowers back in April when I was out in California. I was out there for the lowers WQS so it felt good to just get a few waves even though it was packed and my board wasn’t all that magical. enjoy.
