Landshark Pro Day 1

Well sometimes the gods smile down on you and bring you the waves and other times you just have to put your head down and work for it. Today for me anyways it was the later. New Smyrna on low tide is a crazy labyrinth of peaks breaking way to far outside and for added craziness, it was packed full of sharks. I’m not talking about Jaws but big ones all up and down the line up. Gabe Kling had a six foot shark land right on his back and sent him and three others guys scrambling to the beach. Just another day in our lives.

I was able to catch a few peaks and was digging into my turns as hard as I could. My waves were not the best but I made the most of them. My board is feeling like a magic carpet and that makes it easier to push up the scores on an average wave. I was in second with about one minute to go but grabbed a last second wave and slid into first. Rob got a second in his heat and advanced as well. He was in the lead until an unknown hero with thirty seconds to go pulled a huge air reverse and went from fourth to first. It’s looking like a finish to the comp tomorrow and we’ll do our best to keep the NJ flag flying high and bring home all the cash that we possibly can. Hope everyone is having a good end of the week and it’s looking to be a surf weekend in NJ for you guys so enjoy.
