.  Yes it is only August 13th, but the Philadelphia Eagles are on the field.  They lost by a field goal miss by Akers, but whatever.  They looked GOOOOD!!  Also the Atlantic Ocean is becoming active!!!!  Swell is looking to be on its way from potential tropical depression development.  Got to love it, waves and football!!!  Michael Vick has joined the Eagles just minutes ago.  Indeed he made his mistakes, but this guy can play football.  I want to be a fan of the Birds and welcome you to the team.  As for the waves I am ready…

4th of July

Written By Kevin Richards on July 5th, 2009 with 1 Comment.

Oh what a holiday.  Beautiful weather, family and friends, BBQ’s, fireworks, oh yeah and a celebration of independence.  Land of the Free.  In New Jersey at the shore is a mandatory spot to hit up on the 4th.  I ventured to Atlantic City for the first time on this holiday.  What a night!!  Surfers can be rock stars too.  We role up in style with a stretch limo then head to a bar where we toasted with a bottle of champagne and continued with red bull and absolute.  Of course I got my dance on to a group of…

Written By Kevin Richards on June 24th, 2009 with 6 Comments.

This world is becoming green!!  So someone let me know what to do with my old wetsuits.  I have a lot of rubber that I don’t want to throw away.  Is there anyone recycling the stuff?  Xcel?, Rip Curl?, Body Glove?, Quiksilver?, Billabong?, West?, Hyperflex?.  The surf industry has been doing awesome with going green.  Any suggestions??

Sun does Wonders

Written By Kevin Richards on June 23rd, 2009 with No Comments.

I was able to get a surf in before dark with the sun out.  It has rained 13 out 15 days or something like that.  The waves have been fun, but the business in the surf shop has been nuts since no one can go to the beach.  Tonight was hopefully the 180 turn.  SUN was out with ridable waves, cant beat it after a long day of work.  The sun better stay.

Summer Is Here

Written By Kevin Richards on June 13th, 2009 with 2 Comments.

Yet another summer has arrived to the jersey shore.  As promoted manager at 7th Street Surf Shop, life has been busy.  Luckily it’s a good busy.  Who wouldn’t want there full time job to be in a surf shop?  We have just moved locations from 654 Asbury to 720 Asbury.  Not far and the new shop is insane.  So much bigger.  This past week was crazy with the move and getting everything organized for the weekend from surfboards, hard goods and  clothing to jewelry and wax.  If visiting Ocean City, NJ, come in and check it out.  In only the…

Broad St. Run

12,000 + runners

On Sunday May 3, 2009, I completed the Broad St. Run in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  It was a 10 mile run that 26,000 people were involved in with me.  It was quite the experience.  I didn’t put to much training into it, but I wish I did because it was LONG.  The weather was not the best, overcast with some showers, but that did not even matter because my adrenalin was pumping from the crowd and the thought of competition.  I started with 3 of my good friends for probably 1/2 mile then everyone was off on their own pace….

Welcome Kevin Richards to Surfers Candy

Written By Kevin Richards on April 14th, 2009 with 3 Comments.

I am New Jersey at the moment and the spring has been decent with waves.  It could be better, but I am not complaining because I am still getting in the water.  Swell is on the way!!  Yet again another late Nor’easter.  This brings potential to my wave at 8th street, which is an amazing left-hander.  I just surfed it last week too, so it’s exciting.  Not much for photos from last swell because it never really turned on.  Hopefully this swell will be different.  I recently just picked up a sponsor with RVCA, which I am pumped on!…
