Hurricane Bill

SO we have it.  The first hurricane of the season.  Nice to have it early with warm waters, but to have to get out at 9:30 because of lifeguards sucked.  AHHHH!!   I started my weekend by getting off till today.  Amazing.  I had 4 days of fun filled surfing with a bunch of bros.  I went up to North Jersey friday night with my buddy Scott Drages.  We met up with pro surfers Luke Ditella and Tommy Petriken and photographer Rich McMullin.  Started off the weekend out with a bang at the Asbury Lanes for some beers and bands.  Good stuff.  Saturday was whatever in waves with the wind on it and the fog clouding around.  But we still surfed.  Sunday was the call.  Everyone was talking about it.  Andy Irons was even in New Jersey for this swell.  Idiot.   haha just kidding.  We did get waves, but nothing like the forecasts were saying.  Big sets with offshore winds rolled in sunday morning with the crew driving threw barrel after barrel.  Oh yea, Ian Bloch joined us in the early am for some shackers.  We were thinking about heading way north like Rhode Island or Maine, but decided to stay Jersey bound because it was bound to turn on.  Sunday afternoon went to shit with onshore winds and rain.  BLAH.  But we stayed on the positive side and hoped for the best on Monday morning knowing there were more offshore winds to come.  And it did.  WOW.  It was just Luke, Tommy and myself joined by one other local at this secret jetty sharing perfect, overhead, clean, green rooms to shred attacks.  It has been a long time since I have been in the water that much and felt great until I couldn’t walk from soreness.  Work definitely keeps you out of shape.  Anyway I hope everyone scored in their own way and would like to hear about.  Looks like more on the way!  Peace!

Hell yea! I surfed so much in the past week that my arms are about to fall off! Everyone is pissed that the storm didn’t deliver what Surfline.com was predicting, but Fuck it — there were overhead waves and barrels to be had! Great post Kev!
