If you have been keeping up with the Surfers Candy posts recently then you know that a large part of our crew jumped ship on Jersey two weeks ago and flew down to Mexico for some pre-summer surf relief. As the photos and videos start to trickle their way onto this site, I decided that in addition to making it known that we scored some epic surf that I would grind the salt into the wounds of our readers a little more by showing off the amazing accomodations that Dean Randazzo, Chris Kelly, and I shared while baking in the cactus fields of Mexico.
As far as surf accommodations go, the house we stayed in was a 10 – maybe even a 12 considering we were in Mexico. It was three stories with four master bedrooms that could each shelter an entire family with ease. The pool and the hot tub cold plunge served as an oasis that lazily kept cool in the shade ready for our frequently overheated selves. The kitchen and all of the other amenities were fit for a king with decorative artwork and less than modest tiling. I would have to say that the real feature of value for the house though was the view from the top deck (appropriately garnished with a grill, two hammocks, it’s own bathroom, refrigerator, and dining area of course). With the house located jut up the hill it overlooked all of Puerto Escondido, serving as the premiere wave-check arena to see which sandbars were working at any given time. All in all, the house was phenomenal. Oh, and did I mention there was a maid that cleaned and cut fresh fruit everyday? Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.
Before I forget, let me thank Dean Randazzo for the invite to crash with him during our stay down there – the trip went from awesome to epic because of his generosity with sharing the house. I also want to thank Tim and Maxine O’Brien (fellow Ocean City locals) because it was their house that we stayed in. Tim and Maxine, I must admit you probably have the most dialed setup in Mexico I have ever seen. Check out this house and their other properties when you are ready to book your next vacation. http://www.Gilderinternational.com/
