Well, I couldn’t take it anymore. The flat spell at home was driving me insane so the other day I booked a last minute ticket to Puerto Escondido, Mexico to meet up with Zack Humphreys, Dean Randazzo, Chris Kelly, and Rich McMullin to chase down a massive swell and hopefully put my eyes on something other than knee-high dribble. The swell peaked over the weekend with literally 35-40 foot top to bottom bombs rolling through. I have never seen a beach break that size before in my life. It was definitely a day for a select few hell men on skis or 11 foot guns. Grant “Twiggy” Baker and Mark Healy paddled out at dawn and bobbed over massive walls looking like nothing more than tiny specs in the distance. After about 30 minutes of watching it from our porch Twiggy swung around on one and dropped into a gigantic one. It seriously looked fake in real life. He dropped straight in before eventually having the wave out run him and mow him down. He took three more waves on the head before eventually washing to the beach. It was one of the craziest things I’ve ever seen in person. The swell looks to hang around for a bit so check back for more photos of the crew as we explore the Mexican coastline.
