For those of you who don’t know, Red Bull is bringing the epic event of Flugtag to Philadelphia in September. Flugtag is an incredible event where teams of 5 people build a “flying” machine to be launched off of a 30 foot platform with the goal of having the contraption glide for the longest distance. The platform is over water where the flying device usually glides safely crashes horrifically into the designated harbor, lake, or in this case – the Delaware River. I have wanted to do this event for a long time – actually ever since I saw it in person down in Baltimore a couple years back. In order to get the opportunity to massacre yourself in front of thousands of people you need to apply and be hand selected by Red Bull. There are some guidelines. Namely, you must keep the flying machine under 450 lbs and be as creative as possible.

So I applied. But before I did I made a quick compilation of some videos clips that were on my hard drive that would hopefully show the Red Bull folks that my friends and I have what it takes to launch a quarter-ton contraption 30 feet into water. Check out the quick highlight reel.
