Indo, The Place to Be

As my brother explained earlier this week in his most recent post, this spring hasn’t exactly been bountiful in terms of surf over here on the east coast. I may have been a little overzealous in my welcoming of the beautiful spring weather that took hold of our area early this year. It even crossed my mind that I might miss winter. For an instant, I felt like a hypocrite after all the times I prayed for warmth this winter only to be sitting here in 80 degree sunshine thinking back to some of the better swells that slammed onto the frozen, snow covered beaches and wishing I was back in my 5 mil getting real barrels.

But, my mind quickly came to its senses, shaking off any thoughts of digging my way through waist deep snow to get to the beach and torturously conjured up images of where I was at this time last year – Indonesia. Now, that’s the place to be, especially right now. Just to jog my memory of how amazing Indo is at this time of year, as the southern hemisphere lights up with swell, I took a quick journey down memory lane looking at photos from the trip on my computer and I figured I would share some with you.

I am now about two seconds away from booking a ticket. I wonder if you feel the same after seeing the photos?

Sometimes I can't believe places like this exist and that I still keep coming back to Jersey. Surfer: Me. Photo: McMullin
