Behind The Scenes: A Pleasant Surprise

Written By Jamie Moran on December 22nd, 2009 with 2 Comments.

The other day I stumbled upon some “outtake” footage from filmmaker Kyle Pahlow’s latest flick, A Pleasant Surprise. For those of you who aren’t aware, Kyle’s film documents the surf personalities of several of New Jersey’s finest surfers. The film was shot entirely on 16mm film and really does a solid job capturing the feeling and essence of being a surfer from the Garden State. Defintiely a great watch for anyone interested.

Anyway, seeing as how Old Lady Winter seems to have settled in for the season here, I thought this outtake session of Rob Kelly and I from last December was appropriate for sharing today. This was one of those days that I still remember vividly where the barrels were plentiful, the crowd was scarce, and the sun was shining. All of the elements coming together if only for a day.

And for those of you who want to see more, A Pleasant Surprise is a avaialble now and on shelves I believe at your finer surf shops in the area.
