What do you do when you show up for your flight and you miss it by 5 minutes? Have a cocktail at 9 am of course. But anyway. I never really knew how much work goes into “hunting” hurricanes until this last trip. Last minute decisions, spot changes, wind forecasts, all led us to the same question. “Where do we go from here?”. A question that was brought up more then asking

I recently ventured down to the probably one of the coolest little destinations I’ve been to. Wilmington, NC, where I met up with Ben Bourgeois. A burrito and 6 beers later, we somehow found our way to the Outer Banks and into the lovely ice box of a home of the one and only, Jeffrey “Thank you Igor” Myers.

Swell on the way for days. The hurricane hunter himself decided to show up and things got even weirder.

It’s 95 degrees out at 10:30 am. I don’t want to leave my house. It’s been flat for a bit now and there’s nothing much else to do. I’m pretty sure ren & stimpy have been on repeat for the last 2 hours. It’s days like today that make me just want to lay around and do absolutely nothing with my life. With hurricane season right around the corner, I’m kind of hoping summer screeps away a little bit faster..

Summer at the shore is usually summed up in the following. Funnel cakes, cheesesteaks, BAMBOO, Snookie, and fake tans. Most people don’t realize for us, it’s completly different. On a hunt for the best sausage and pepper sammy, Clay Pollioni finds himself in the middle of some fun summertime surf at his home break. Special cameo appearance by Ronnie Hammer.

Recently I just started doing webisodes for O’neill. In a nut shell me and Alek Parker want to capture the personalities of all of the east coast team, and bring it to life in 6 short videos a year for each rider.

This past month brought me and Zack Humphreys down to Central America to shoot his first one. We never really got the surf we were hoping for but regardless it was still a fun trip. Zack’s down in Mexico right now, hopefully getting drilled since I can’t be there with him to document it.

Spring At Home.

It’s hard for me to remember the last time I was home for spring. There’s just something about this time of year that makes me appreciate home, and everything that has to do with it. Warm weather, waves, the colors, friends, family. I was lucky enough to be home during most of this spring, and so far it hasn’t let me down one bit.

The first session I got to document was to good to be true. Warm weather, perfect morning light, friends trading off on every wave. There really is no better feeling then filming at home in just a tee shirt and jeans in April. From the looks of things, summer is just around the corner…
