Next week I’ll be updating my post from a sunny, freeway paced, southern California summer camp??? I’ll be heading out there for Volcoms VQS championships in Newport Beach to take my chances at the $50,000 purse.. I’ve wanted to surf this event for some time now, but never properly qualified until this year with a win at a Seaside Heights qualifying event last month. The VQS is a surf contest, I think.. Volcom usually has a theme to anything they do, this year they will be transforming 54th street, Newport, to a summer camp. The antics on the beach at this Volcom comp, like years before, will absolutely be over the top. Randazzo also qualified and confirmed his entry so hopefully the jetties in Newport, that can make any NJ surfer feel at home, come alive because it’s one of my favorite places to surf. So, I got my laundry bag packed and I’m ready for camp, we’ll see if Volcom’s Crustaceous Oaks is ready for a couple Jersey Devils to take over the sticks!! I’ll keep you posted, webcast will be May 13th-15th at Volcom.com
